Durban – A newborn baby boy, who had been dumped in a public toilet in the Bluff in Durban, died on Friday afternoon.
Rescue Care Paramedics operations director Garrith Jamieson said they were called out to assist near Bluff road around 16:30 on Friday.
"On arrival, paramedics found members of the public performing CPR on the newborn," he said.
He added that advanced life support paramedics took over but, despite efforts, the baby was declared dead on the scene after about 30 minutes.
He said it was unclear what led to the baby being dumped, but added that Brighton Beach police were on the scene and would be investigating.
